Mine, metal bir yüzeyin cam katmanla kaplanmasıyla elde edilen bir bezeme sanatıdır. Mine işinde kullanılan cam tozu, çeşitli kimyasal maddelerin, istenen rengi verecek metal oksitlerle karıştırılıp ısıtılmasıyla elde edilir. Çok kırılgan olması nedeniyle günümüze ulaşan en eski örnek MÖ 1300’lerde Mısırlılar’ın toprak kap üzerine uyguladığı örneklerdir. Mine sanatı, Bizans'ta 5. ve 10. Yüzyıllar arasında İstanbul’da mükemmeliyete ulaşmıştır. 11 ve 12. yüzyıllarda buradan Almanya ve Fransa’ya yayılmıştır. Osmanlı'da ise sadekarlar 14. yüzyılda mücevhere renk vermek için alternatif olarak mine kullanmaya başlarlar.
